Orchid Fever
Cultivating, raising, growing and hunting – people around the world have treasured them for centuries and the fever has definitely spread to Golf Garden, where our boys have taken to Orchids in a big way.
When a large branch covered in orchids fell from the old Acacia tree opposite our house not long ago, our boys were encouraged by their dad; an avid orchid enthusiast himself, to rescue and relocate the fallen plants. It was a busy afternoon of carefully picking apart the pile of orchids without breaking them and finding new homes for them to thrive on and decorate the tree stubs and branches around our garden.
Living in the tropics, we are lucky to have orchids growing wild all around us and wherever we go now, the kids are determined to pick up and relocate to safety any fallen orchid that crosses their path.
